A Good Deal On A Good Wine

Good morning! Just a tidbit about one of my favorite wines. Rosenblum Vintner's Cuvee Red Zinfandel is on sale today and Sunday at World Market for $9.99/bottle. Depending on location this wine normally sells for $11 to $13. If you love reds this is a great year-round wine. If you don't think you like red zinfandels, give this one a chance. It will probably change your mind. There's a lot of quality packed into this $10 investment.

Oy!

Let me start by saying that this picture does not do justice to the week I've had. I have missed you all but have been pinning down the finer points of being truly hip and stingy which involves hanging up the phone after talking to the insurance people and saying very ugly curse words. It involves going to the bank with a very dogged look on my face and figuring out one more way to stretch $4 thirty ways. Then contacting a realtor to put our house in Florida on the market. Then putting together financial statements to send to all those blessed souls who hold mortgages on the various pieces of this sad real estate cartel which is being held together by one very grousey man who needs a knee replacement and one very snarly woman who needs a higher strength Zoloft.

Aren't you glad you stopped by?

On the good side, let's see..........

  • My mom loved her flowers for Mother's Day which were overflowing the baskets. I have learned that any regular old gift that can be amped up is a winner for moms. For instance, my mother will buy the saddest hanging baskets at the wal-mart and try to nurse and prune them into something that is passable for display. She would never spend $19.95 each for big, voluptuous baskets. Buying them for her is money well-spent. I have a friend who bought his mother Cheetos and cottage cheese, two things she never springs for for herself. She was thrilled.

  • Travis McGee is now on Medicare. Whoooohoooo gov'ment! I am kinda sad that he is old enough to qualify now since he is twenty times healthier than I am and will be pushing me around in a wheelchair when he's 90 and I'm 68. But you fall in love with who you fall in love with and since he doesn't seem to mind putting up with me I consider myself lucky.

  • Still have a job. Not much more can be said about that.

  • Still have a mom. So very grateful. Travis McGee's mom passed on a few years ago after a full life that stretched from Belgium to Louisville, KY and involved 65 years of marriage to the same man and 47 years of playing bridge with the same group of women. Miss her and her lemon meringue pie very much.

  • Have written several thousand words on my novel.

So, back in the groove and hopefully back to my usual posting. Missed you all! Thanks for all the checking in on me. Love my online people!
